A transplanted Sooner (from Oklahoma), Melinda practices at Wellspring Christian Clinic. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Lee University and a Diploma in Christian Counseling from the Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta. She is licensed by the state of Alabama as a Professional Counselor and as a Supervising Counselor. Since relocating to Birmingham in 1990, she has worked as a counselor on staff with Metropolitan Church of God, as a staff therapist with Golden Care (a geriatric mental health program), and as a private practice clinician with Kathy Miller & Assoc. and Meier New Life Clinics. Melinda works with adults and adolescents, particularly enjoying her work with adults who have a family history of dysfunction or childhood abuse (including sexual abuse), compulsive overeaters, couples struggling to build and maintain healthy relationships, and the terminally ill and their families. She also enjoys assisting individuals wrestling with such issues as depression, anxiety, attention-deficit disorder, self-esteem issues, codependency, bereavement, borderline personality disorder, survivors of abuse and various addictions, and other mild eating disorders.

In 2001, Melinda began coursework in pursuit of certification as an Art Therapist, and currently enjoys integrating art therapy into the work she does. Another recent addition to her work has been skills training for those with borderline personality disorder. She also enjoys teaching and conducts group therapy for the Day Treatment Program at Wellspring.
