Treating the whole person. Emotionally, Physically, Spiritually.

Tina Sumpter

Tina is a licensed professional counselor at Wellspring Christian Clinic. She earned her master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She provides a caring, non-judgmental place for clients to address whatever concerns they encounter as they navigate their unique journeys through life. This could involve treating anxiety, panic, or depression. Often it involves working through relationships in families such as marriage and parent-child relationships. But it can also include working on relationships in friendship, dating, or the workplace. Whether facing relational or individual matters, Tina helps clients with issues of communication, conflict resolution, trust, intimacy, and forgiveness. She is also experienced in treating spiritual concerns, grief, trauma and abuse, anger, identity, self-esteem, and shame. Tina prefers a biblically based Cognitive Behavioral approach and also weaves other approaches into the work as it becomes clear what would be most helpful for each individual client. This commonly means integrating ideas related to Family Systems, Mindfulness, or Emotion Focused Therapy.

Outside of work, Tina is passionate about teaching Bible studies and serving in prison ministries here in the Birmingham area. She and her husband enjoy a very active life together raising their four children.
