Ben Smith, M.A., CAC
Certified Addictions Counselor
Ben Smith most recently served as the Area Director of Young Life in Birmingham for 12 years. He currently provides services for adolescents
and adults at Wellspring Christian Clinic in his role as a Certified Addictions Counselor. Having received a B.S. in Psychology from Auburn
University and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama, Ben has served as the Coordinator of Alcoholism Services at
Eastside Mental Health Center and Program Administrator of Chemical Dependency Services at Hill Crest Hospital. Conceptualizing chemical
dependency as a "equal opportunity disease," Ben understands that it touches the Christian community and is often kept secret due to the
stigma attached to addiction. Although recovery can be a difficult process, Ben's goal is to replace the pain of addiction with the peace
that comes with sobriety.
